Take This Lollipop

I'm not going to tell you much about this other than to say -- do it. It needs access for your Facebook, but I say do it. Good luck.

Creepy Archeology

Now it's time for some creepiness from the past.

Check out this article about about the remains of fallen soldiers from ages ago.
We have found a wooden stick bearing the pelvic bones of four different men. In addition, we have unearthed bundles of bones, bones bearing marks of cutting and scraping, and crushed skulls. Our studies reveal that a violent sequel took place after the fallen warriors had lain on the battlefield for around six months,” says Project Manager Mads Kähler Holst from Aarhus University.

We are fairly sure that this was a religious act. It seems that this was a holy site for a pagan religion – a sacred grove – where the victorious conclusion of major battles was marked by the ritual presentation and destruction of the bones of the vanquished warriors,” adds Mads Kähler Holst.

Saving Lives

When I was 18 I moved into an apartment with my best friend in a college town. It was cool being independent and doing whatever I wanted, but at the time there were two active serial rapists operating in town. To make matters worse there was a peeping tom that liked to frequent out apartment complex (thank goodness we lived on the second floor). I was ways alert and aware of my surroundings. I even bought proper spray. One day I came home and I turned the corner to see an older man with white hair, just standing around, holding a large black bag. I got a bad feeling and made my way to the apartment rather quickly. A short time later my friend stopped by to pick something up and when she left I went to the balcony to watch her walk to her car. I watch silently until I saw Creeper McBlack Bag following her. I wanted him to know I was watching, so I called out to her and told her to call me when she got home. When he heard me he looked a bit startled and quickly did an about face and started walking away quickly. Of course I freaked! Going around making sure everything was locked tight! I'm not saying I saved her life, but I'm not saying I didn't! -Maryann

A Short Vision

This is a terrifying film is a British animated film written and directed by Peter Foldes and his wife, Joan. It is narrated by James McKechnie. Created after the United States first detonated a hydrogen bomb in 1952, the film depicts the complete annihilation of the Earth and all life on it. The film gained the attention of the mass-media in 1956 after it was aired on The Ed Sullivan Show.

What makes this really terrifying is the thoughts it puts in your head. Sure the Cold War of the 80s is long past, but there are still enough nukes around to make this movie seem like a best case scenario.

Eerie Hotel Photos

Here is a link to some abandoned creepy hotel photos. The hallway looks like it is from The Shining (one of the best horror movies ever, by the way.)

Persistent Work Creeper

I work part time in a supermarket and one day a guy went through the self-scan (which I work on). He had been through twice already and each time deliberately messed up his shopping so I would have to go across to him.

He was nice enough and made conversation by asking me how I was and I had said I would be better when I finished work. He asked what time I finished and without thinking I told him 9pm. I thought nothing of it and finished at 9 and headed to my car - staff have to park at the bottom of the car park past the recycling containers - as I walked past them the guy I had served earlier popped out!

I was really uneasy and carried on walking as he tried to talk to me, I can't recall what he was saying but he kept saying my name and that scared me. I just wanted to get to my car and he followed me all the way until I opened my car door. He stood in the way so I couldn't close it, so I asked him to move. He asked me if I was local, which was a weird question. I didn't answer, but instead pulled my door and luckily he moved. As I started up my car he tapped the window and smiled at me. It was so creepy!

I drove out of the car park and pulled up by the petrol station and called my mum. He'd really frightened me.

The next day at work he came through self-scan again and tried to get my attention but I told my work mate and he served. The creep then came over to talk to me and because I was working I had to reply to him even though I kept it to one word answers and I pretended to help other customers until he left.

I finished work early so I managed to avoid him that night. The next day he did the same and the lady I was working with had innocently told him I was 18 after he had made conversation saying I looked too young to sell alcohol. I finished work at 10 again that night and a guy I work with did too so he walked me to my car. Nothing happened until I drove off and saw the creepy guy sitting in his car seemingly waiting for me. After that I decided to tell my manager and she has security watch him and move him on from my till twice. They eventually asked him to not come to my service point and I haven't see him since.

The Black Hole

Next in our series of scary short films is "The Black Hole".

This film might not be scary in the traditional sense, but it has subtle terror that reminds me of an Edgar Allen Poe tale.

Escape From Red Necks

I moved from southern California to Oregon at 10 almost eleven.   My first summer there my mom got waterfall/swimming hole book and we started taking day trips as a family on the weekends.  My Dad, Mom, Sister and I.   One weekend we find ourselves approximately 10 miles out of Cave Junction in the middle of BFE at a beautiful swimming hole.   There we also find a bunch of naked hippies,  old, young, girls, boy, families all hanging out (some smoking pot).  It was a very peaceful and pleasant vibe.  A bit shocked at first we soon felt welcome and confortable and proceeded to swim (in our suits).

Fast-forward a couple years later.   I am now 13 and somehow this past experience comes up with a couple girlfriends of mine.  We all talk about how fun it would be to go skinny dipping at the nude swimming hole.  One Saturday my mom agrees to take us. For whatever reason we found the idea of swimming naked exotic and exciting!  We thought we would be so cool.

So My Mom and I and my two friends head out for a day at the river.   When we arrive it is a very similar picture to what we had found before.  Two old wrinkly bearded hippies sit rolling joints from a Frisbee full of pot.  They introduce themselves as Daniel and Grey Eagle.  A middle aged women sits naked with two rambunctious kids in front of her playing in the water. She smiles and comments on how it is a beautiful day for swimming. There are a few other folks around and we feel extremely comfortable so we strip off and hop in.

Shortly after we get swimming a rough looking red neck and his two equally red neck looking teenage sons (probably 16-18) show up.  This changed the feel of the environment but we just kind of ignore it.

After a while they start getting really drunk and start making unwanted and obnoxious comments, at this point, all the women and children had left only Grey Eagle and Daniel remain.  About this same time, a black man comes up; talking to one of the hippies about the long hike he is on and stops under a tree to take a break.  He even sat with his back to us as to not make us uncomfortable.
The man and his two sons start calling this man names, including the n word and tell him that he is not allowed to watch THEIR white girls swim.  The man is ignoring them and the hippies tell the guys to back off which for some reason they do.

At this point Grey Eagle has informed my mother that he has saw that  the rednecks are carrying a gun and that we should get out of there,  we as nonchalantly as possible start to get our stuff together to go.  Before we can get in the car and leave the man and his sons announce the need for a beer run and hop in their car and head off.  We are all relieved they are gone and Grey Eagle tells the guy enjoying his hike that he might want to take off given the gun situation.

We hope in the car and start heading down the road back toward civilization, we get to the end of the dirt road and as we pull onto the main road we hear an engine start up and before we know it are being tailed by a huge old truck and in it are the man and his sons.

The road we are on is winding at my Moms old Toyota 4-runner (that is actually a two runner, no four wheel drive) is not fast.   Soon they are next to us on the two lane highway shouting at us to pull the fuck over and waving a gun at us.  For the next 5-10 miles they get next to us and then slip behind when there is an oncoming car getting right on our bumper.  We are all freaking out and my poor Mom is just trying to make it to the next small town as quickly as possible.  They get into the other lane and get next to us again.  We can hear them saying  “hurry up, get in front and cut them off”  just as they are gaining speed and getting close to passing us my Mom slams on her breaks and makes a right turn onto a random road.  We turn a couple more times to make sure we have lost them and look at a map to make sure we aren’t completely lost. We find a way back to the main road without having to go back the way we came and FINALLY make it into town and to a gas station.   As we pull into the gas station we see them drive by, they spot us but at that moment they realize we are safe in the company of many people and there is not much they can do.  They cruise by slowly making obscene gestures call us whores or something of that nature and drive off.

We waited a long time before starting our long drive home as parts of it are not well traveled and we are afraid they will catch up to us again.  I assure you we were all scared to death.

Lesson:  Being in the sticks gives you a false sense of peace as you feel there isn’t many people to deal with but it is the WORST place to be if you run into people you have bad intentions. I hate to think what would have happen had they caught us...

We weren't aware until very recently that the film Mama, by Guillermo del Toro, originated from a short film. Here for your viewing pleasure is the progenitor of the feature film Mama called, fittingly, Mama. Enjoy...

Woman Lives in Serial Killer House

Here's a creepy true tale about a woman unknowingly living in a serial killer's home.

"McGhaw is living in the same Ferguson, Missouri house serial killer Maury Travis used as a torture chamber. The landlord even gave her the dining room table; the same one from the crime scene photos"

"McGhaw called her landlord, begging to get out of the lease, but the landlord wasn't sympathetic.
Turns out the landlord is the killer's mom."

The Quiet

There are some issues with this one and we're not sure if they're intentional to make the viewer think, or if they're just shoddy story telling. What is the deal with the doll section? Does it represent the girl in the film, and we'd guess it does, then who is the person that is messing with the doll? Also, is the guy who is chasing her (the friend of her father's sent to drive her home from school) actually a creeper or is he simply trying to get to her so that he can explain he's been sent by her parents to drive her home? We would look at the film like it was a tragic mixup by the poor girl. She was creeped out by the guy in the van and ran, hitting her head and winding up injured and probably lost in the woods. However, because of the doll scenes, we feel like maybe the guy in the van (who is also the man at the table being interviewed along with the mom by the cop) might actually be a creeper because of the doll scenes... Or, perhaps the makers of this film just missed the mark in the doll scenes and it was included for creep factor that wasn't necessary nor conducive to the plot. Also, we didn't care for the jump scare at the end. Personally we hate jump scares because they usually don't flow with the plot. They're cheap scares that take no creativity or imagination.
That's our take on the short film. What are your thoughts? Was the man in the van (the man interviewed near the end of film) really have bad intentions or was he simply trying to drive her home as her dad asked? What was the point of the doll scenes?
